Planned Giving

The generosity of Museum friends who include the Museum in their wills and estate planning will change the future and enable us to connect children with nature for years to come!

“Generations for Nature” is the Museum’s Planned Giving Circle.  All those who make planned gifts to the Museum are eligible.  If you let the museum’s executive director, Tom Bregman, know that you have included the Museum in your estate planning, we will happily recognize you in our communications (if you desire) and include you in special Museum events.

Why do people leave legacies?  Beyond the primary reason – because they care about the nature Museum and want its work to continue into the future – there are many others.  They may want to preserve the family name or honor a loved one.  They may want to make a statement of community support.  They may even want to ease the tax burden on their heirs.

How do you leave a legacy? The first step is to contact your financial advisor or estate attorney.  He or she can discuss options with you.  We also know professionals who can help, including our colleagues at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.

Is My Contribution Tax-Deductible? Absolutely. The Museum is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization which entitles your donation to favorable tax treatment.

What are Some of My Options?   Again, there are many, but the easiest is a bequest in your will. You can simply say: “I/we give to the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum the sum of $_____ (or describe the property or percentage of the estate you wish to leave.)”  Other options include securities, insurance benefits, real estate and trusts, and each one has unique features that might be right for you.

Can I Get More Information? Certainly, Click here for a brochure. The Museum’s Director of Development, Jessica Oliveri, will also be happy to help. Feel free to contact her at (845)534-5506, ext. 215 or at joliveri@hhnm.org. You can also fill out this card and mail it to us at: Jessica Oliveri,  Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, PO Box 451 Cornwall, NY 12518

If you have included Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in your will, please let us know so that we may thank you during your lifetime.
